US firm recalls smoked beef over possible listeria contamination

Texas-based Lone Star Brisket Company is recalling approximately 207 pounds of smoked beef products that may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.

USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers.

The problem was discovered through FSIS's microbiological sampling programme.
