New Zealand dairy farms to be inspected
The regional council of New Zealand's Manawatu-Wanganui will inspect 450 dairy farms there.
The inspection aims to ensure the effluent disposal systems are able to prevent any damage to waterways from effluent contamination.
The council is urging farmers to come forward with possible problems about their systems to avoid being prosecuted under inspections.
No enforcement action would be taken if farmers had plans to fix the systems, the council said.
