China corn exports reach 1.1 million tonnes in July

According to the General Administration of Customs, China exported 1.1 million tonnes of corn in July 2005, up 5.95 times compared with the same period in 2004. Exports to South Korea, Iran, Japan, Malaysia and Vietnam in July totaled 712,000, 228,000, 70,000, 24,000 and 27,300 tonnes respectively.

From January to July, China's accumulative corn exports totaled 6.015 million tonnes, up by 237 percent compared with the same period in 2004. 

Meanwhile, China imported 69 tonnes of corn in July 2005, all originating from the US.

From January to July, China's accumulative corn imports totaled 532 tonnes, up by 67.3 percent compared with the same period in 2004.
