Vietnam's Aquaculture Product Output Up Over 5% In August

Vietnam netted 275,000 tons of sea products in August, which is an increase of 5.04% year-on-year. This has raised the total output to over 1.8 million tons, or 68 percent of the yearly target in the first eight months of this year, said the Ministry of Fisheries.

The product output of aquaculture farms was estimated at 150,000 tons this month. The total volume is now 795,000 tons since the beginning of 2004. The figure is up 12 percent over the same period last year, making up 66.2 percent of this year's target.

The ministry has asked Fisheries Departments and relevant agencies to take measures to further improve the quality of aquatic products for exports.
