Uzbekistan's meat and dairy output up in H1

The Uzmyasomolprom association (Uzbek meat and dairy industry) produced products worth US$34.4 million in the first six months of 2010, a 7.6% increase on-year, said Sadriddin Rasulov, chairman of the association.

More businessmen are realising that the processing of meat and milk is profitable and they are trying to arrange production of value added products, Rasulov said.

"We can see this in the increasing number of appeals to the association in which people ask for help in buying the relevant processing equipment, acquiring training specialists, choosing technologies and others. We are trying to help workers in villages to arrange meat and milk processing, especially in remote areas," he added.

Tax benefits and concessions are being granted to farms, which are ready to process their own produce. "That is why there is a rising number of processing businesses especially in central Samarqand, eastern Fargona, Andijon, northwestern Xorazm regions and Qoraqalpogiston," Rasulov said.
