US feedlot showlists declining

The number of fed cattle being offered to packers this week likely is down from last week and could help to support cash cattle prices, market analysts and brokers said.

Market analysts and brokers said feedlot showlist counts were down in all major areas that have completed their assessments.

One market analyst said the lowered number of feedlot offerings is the result of seasonal tendencies. An expected decline in the number of slaughter-ready cattle based on previous placement data also is playing out with this week's lowered showlist count, he said.
