Meat supplies to UAE and the Gulf to rise 15 percent

The UAE and the Gulf are expected to increase meat imports by as much as 15 percent during the month of Ramadan, according to importers.

The month of Ramadan will also be one of the busiest periods for the global meat industry, as it collides with high seasonal demand from European, US and the Australian markets.

Importers are expected to buy in more amounts to ensure sufficient supplies in retail outlets during Ramada and Eid al Fitr.

Demand for meat slaughtered according to halal practices is especially high during events such as Eid al Adha, the festival of the sacrifice that coincides with the annual Hajj pilgrimage.
