New shipping line to enhance US feed exports to Vietnam
A new direct service between Vietnam and the US would launched this month, which could help boost US feed exports to the Asian country.
Transportation is a key factor when it comes to US agricultural exports. The new service will improve transit time and provide higher quality service with easier access to its customers in Vietnam.
As a country experiencing rapid growth and development, this new shipping route is welcomed by the Vietnamese and Americans alike.
The new line is opened by Hanjin Shipping, South Korea's shipping company. The opening of this line makes Hanjin the third major container line to offer this service to Vietnam.
US Grains Council regional director in Southeast Asia Adel Yusupov said, the launch of this line was a favourable development for US exports of distiller's dried grains with solubles (DDGS), corn and corn gluten meal into the market.
Vietnam's 2009 projected feed grains demand is approximately 12 million tonnes, according to Yusupov.
The demand was estimated to reach 20 million tonnes by 2015 amid the current rate of livestock and feed industry growth, Yusupov added.
