China's drafts plan to raise agri-exports

China's agri-product exports aim to reach a US$38 billion value by 2010, based on the 11th five-year plan  released by the Ministry of Commerce on August 24.

To help exports attain a target annual growth of 40 percent this year, six procedures pertaining to quality and management have been put in place.

China also aims to continue raising its agri-exports by 7 percent annually over the next five years.

According to the five-year plan, which falls between the years of 2003 and 2007, China will maintain strategic advantages in aquatic-products, continually improve the poultry product exports and further the application of the technology on agricultural products processing.

In particularly, processing products are targeted to hit at least a proportion of 30 percent of total agri-products exports, at US$ 19 billion.
