Austria finds latest case of mad cow disease

Austria has found a latest case of BSE, or mad cow disease, in an ox from Slovenia that was brought into the southern city of Graz to be slaughtered.

The country's government said there was no risk to consumers as the animal's remains had been secured and would be incinerated.

According to Austria's government, there had been five cases of BSE in Slovenia in recent years. It added that Austria's BSE monitoring system worked completely in identifying infected animals and removing them from the food chain.
