Seafish appoints new interim CEO

Seafish on Monday (Aug 23) appointed Dr. Paul Williams as interim CEO, effective in October.

Williams, who joined Seafish in 2004 as research director, replaces John Rutherford, who announced his retirement last December after more than eight years on the job.

Initially, Rutherford said that he would be retiring in June, but the selection of a new CEO was stalled by the ongoing lawsuit involving uncollected duties on imported seafood allegedly owed to Seafish.

Rutherford had to push back his retirement date to the end of September, though he will continue to help Seafish support the government's challenge to the Court of Appeal's ruling.

Earlier in June, John Whitehead was appointed as the interim Chairman of the organisation following the completion of Charles Howeson's three-year term as chair.
