Estonian meat prices up in July

 
 

Purchase prices of beef, mutton and goat meat in Estonia were higher in July than a year earlier whereas the price of pork came down, data by the national statistics office show.

 

The average purchase price of beef rose by EEK2.32 (US$0.19) on-year to EEK28.11 (US$2.27) per kilogramme and that of mutton and goat meat rose by EEK0.93 (US$.0.07)

 

The buying-in price of a kg of pork meanwhile dropped to an average EEK24.64 (US$1.99).

 

Compared to June, the average purchase price of beef was up by EEK1.06 (US$0.09) and of pork by EEK0.79 (US$0.06) per kg. Mutton and goat meat, on the other hand, were EEK0.85 (US$0.07) cheaper in July.

 

In July meat processing companies bought 30,900 pigs, 2,700 head of cattle and 300 sheep and goats. The corresponding figures for July 2009 were respectively 28,900, 3,100, and 200.
