Korean Consumers Remain Wary Of US Beef
The Korean Rural Economic Institute carried out a survey in early July, where consumers were asked whether they considered US beef to be safe.
Out of the 510 people surveyed, 78% of the respondents believed US beef was unsafe. In a similar survey carried out in January 2004, 87% of the respondents had considered US beef to be unsafe.
When asked whether they would purchase US beef following its re-entry into the Korean market, 64% of those surveyed felt that they would not consume US beef at all. 27% of the respondents stated that they would reduce their consumption of US beef.
