Market analysis

Limited availability of the product lent support to the market as several lysine producers continued to halt operation even after the routine maintenance schedule.

Nonetheless, demand for feed from the hog sector showed little improvement as inventories of large hogs were limited, hence prompting feed millers to keep production low to be on the safe side. Prices of lysine were therefore unchanged over the week in review.

In Europe, lysine price quotes were stable to lower in the range of RMB1.60-1.61/kg.

Market forecast

Lysine prices are seen stable to moderately higher in the coming period. Despite low animal population feed consumption is expected to expand as farmers fatten animals before releases in the pre-festive period during September. This, together with tight availability, should help to hold up the prices of lysine.
