Belarus' farm output shows increase
Belarus' farm output increased 8.4% on-year in the January-July period to BYR14.6 trillion (US$4.87 billion), according to a source from the National Statistics Committee.
Sales of fattened cattle and poultry rose 5.5% on the year in January-July to 782,200 tonnes, milk output rose 1.2% to 4.085 million tonnes, and egg output went up 2.9% to 2.151 billion units.
Return on sales of Belarus' agribusiness reached 4.1% in January-June 2010, down from 5.8% in January-June 2009.
Net profit of agricultural companies amounted to BYR1 trillion (US$333 million) in January-June 2010, up 0.7% on-year.
In January-June 2010, farms' net loss reached BYR21 billion (US$7 million), up 330% on-year. There were 23 unprofitable farms, compared to 16 loss-makers in January-June 2009. Overdue payables of Belarus' agriculture were at BYR2 trillion (US$667 million) as of July 1, 2010, 18.2% of all payables.
