Cyprus poultry price hikes reach 10%
The poultry prices in Cyprus have increased by up to 10% with poultry farmers complaining over increases on production costs.
The Cyprus Poultry Farmers Association said yesterday that some of its members had already increased their prices, while others were expected to follow suit within the next few days.
"The increase in prices, which will be set by each poultry farmer, will not exceed 10% and it will depend on the costs, which are relatively high for each farm," the association said.
The price hikes have been linked to recent increases in wheat, fuel and electricity prices, as well as additional operational costs.
Furthermore, the association said that new European directives and regulations on hygiene, quality, checking systems and environmental issues, had also led to an increase in operational costs.
