Vietnamese seafood exports rise 13.3% on-year

 
 

In the Jan-July 2010 period, Vietnam exported US$2.49 billion worth of seafood, up 13.3% as compared from the previous year, the General Customs Department said.

 

The largest export stable of Vietnam was shrimp with an export volume of 111,000 tonnes, valued at US$932 million. Tra and basa fish ranked second since the Southeast Asian country earned US$777 million from exporting 362,000 tonnes of the products.

 

The country also raked in US$499 million from exporting 172,000 tonnes of seafood of other kinds between Jan and July, and US$205 million from 50,000 tonnes of mollusks.

 

The largest market for Vietnamese seafood still belongs to EU with revenues of US$624 million, up 5.5% on-year, the department said. Japan and the US are next on the list with respective revenues of US$459 million and US$418 million, up 18.4% and 11.5% on-year, the department added.
