China to improve pig farming environment

China's Ministry of Agriculture has set aside RMB2.5 billion to improve the conditions of pig farms across the country.

The fund will be used to boost waste treatment efficiency of medium-scale pig farms, bring piped water and electricity supply to more pig farms, raising standards of farm hygiene as well as in bolstering swine disease prevention capacity.

Under this programme, pig farms with annual hog sales of between 500 and 3,000 heads of hogs will be given priority.
