Truein Group to build new hog farm in Taonan

Truein Group Animal Husbandry Co., Ltd. (Truein Group) has officially approved the plan to develop a hog farm project in Taonan City.

According to the plan, Truein Group will invest a total of RMB5.6 billion (US$914.93 million) in the next five years to build a 4-million-head hog farm, together with a complete hog industrial chain that includes slaughtering, cooked-food processing, feed manufacturing, and the development of organic fertiliser and bio-gas.

Jilin provincial government has proposed a target of raising the annual hog production capacity to 50 million head, and is moving closer to achieving that goal.

During the Changchun International Agriculture and Food Expo in August, the provincial government has signed strategic cooperation agreements with eight hog enterprises on several projects, which will bring an additional production capacity of 28 million head upon completion.

Since 2012, COFCO and Zhengbang Group have all invested in hog farming in Jilin. The province has now formed an industrial chain with a total annual production capacity of 28 million pigs.

Jilin provincial government will continue to provide preferential policies to the hog industry, and expects the current production capacity to double by 2020.
