China to reapportion 2012 farm product import quotas
The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) announced on Tuesday (Aug 21) that China will reallocate import quotas for major farm products for the rest of this year.
The notice says that importers must return the unused import quotas for wheat, corn, paddy and rice, sugar, and cotton before September 15. The NDRC and the Ministry of Commerce will then redistribute the quotas before October 1.
China's 2012 import quotas for wheat, corn, cotton, and sugar are respectively 9.64 million tonnes.
