Rospotrebnadzor restricts 300 tonnes Ukrainian cheese

Several batches of Ukrainian cheese weighing over 300 tonnes made by PE Prometey of the Mensky Cheese branch and LLC Hadiachsyr have been banned by Rospotrebnadzor.

"By results of laboratory tests, expert opinions were issued for three batches of cheese made by PE Prometey of the Mensky Cheese branch, total weight 39 tonnes, and for nine batches of cheese made by LLC Hadiachsyr, total weight 273,866 tonnes, on non-compliance of cheese with sanitary-epidemiological rules and norms," a statement of the press service reads.

As Rospotrebnadzor notes, over eight months of 2012, 360 samples of cheese, made by five Ukrainian enterprises, came to the laboratory of the federal service. For today, examination of 331 samples of products was fully completed, out of these, 320 batches were allowed for realisation to population.

By information of the Russian party, 29 samples of cheese produced by four Ukrainian enterprises are in the process of laboratory tests.

As reported by UKRINFORM, in February 2012, Rospotrebnadzor suspended import of cheese made by three Ukrainian enterprises to Russia, such as PE Prometey (Chernihiv region), JSC Pyriatyn Cheese Factory (Poltava region), LLC Hadiachsyr (Poltava region), having said that much palm oil was detected in Ukrainian cheese.

Later, the Russian party banned another four Ukrainian enterprises to supply cheese to the territory of Russia. This list included Bashtan Cheese Plant and Lozova Cheese Factory, Bel Shostka Ukraine and Khmelnysky Butter and Cheese Factory.

On April 3, by results of negotiations of Economic Development and Trade Minister of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko with Rospotrebnadzor Chief Gennady Onishchenko it was stated that restrictions for import of hard and semi-hard cheese made in Ukraine will be removed on the part of Russia, following removal of remarks, expressed by the Russian party during an audit of LLC Hadiachsyr.

Following the audit, Rospotrebnadzor allowed Pyriatyn Cheese Factory, Dubnomoloko, Hadiazhsyr and Prometey to supply their products to the Russian market.
