More poultry in Egypt vaccinated against bird flu
Egyptian Minister of Agriculture Amin Abaza on Tuesday [21 August] said that 38 percent of Egypt's poultry was vaccinated against the bird flu virus.
Abaza said authorities had the virus under control but warned that the tens of millions of backyard poultry in the country could yet pose a problem.
Egypt suffered from a series of bird flu outbreaks last year and announced a US$42-million package in April to fight bird flu.
