Romania's January-April dairy products imports down 5.26%
 

 

During the first four months of 2012, Romania imported milk and dairy products worth EUR75.7 million (US$93.5 million), 5.26% less on an on-year basis, when the imports amounted to EUR79.9 million (US$99 million).

 

The amount of milk, cream, soured milk, yoghurt, kefir, butter and cheeses imported on the market on the community market totalled about 74.736 tonnes in the first four months of the year, 10.45% less on an on-year basis, namely 83,462 tonnes.

 

As regards exports, they went up from 8,764 tonnes between January-April 2011 to more than 11,366 tonnes in the same period of 2012, with revenues exceeding EUR19.1 million (US$23.6 million) compared to EUR10.5 million (US$13 million) last year.

 

According to the MADR statistics, Romania's imports on the dairy products segment focused on concentrated/non-concentrated milk and soured cream with or without sugar added (49,532.5 tonnes) but cheeses totalled also 12,855 tonnes in late April 2012. The value of these imports exceeded EUR60.9 million (US$75.3 million).

 

On the other hand, milk and sour cream exports amounted to 5,874.6 tonnes in the first four months of the year, with EUR7.8 million (US$9.6 million) revenues.

 

According to the data of the National Institute of Statistics (INS), the amount of cow milk collected in farms and collecting units by the processing units went up in March by 5,053 tonnes compared to March 2011.
