Nestle opens new milk factory in China
Nestle has recently opened a new milk factory in Erguna, near Hulunbeir, in China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The daily fresh milk production capacity of this plant is 600 tonnes and the company is targeting for this to reach 1,500 tonnes in 2010.
With the addition of Nestle's plant in Hulunbeir, the region will now have four milk and dairy producers. The other three existing dairy and milk producers in the region are Yili Group, Sanyuan Group and Bright Dairy and Food Group.
Since Nestle began investing in China in the 1980s, the company has opened 21 factories in 18 different sites across the country. In 2006, total sales in China surpassed RMB11.9 billion.
