Sizzling Mississippi summer threatens poultry and agriculture
High temperatures are affecting agricultural activities in the southern US state of Mississippi.
Poultry, livestock, and field crops are under threat from the hot summer.
Broilers could be eating less, leading to lower body weights, on top of heat-associated mortalities, poultry experts said.
Even as most million modern broiler facilities are environmentally controlled, a breakdown would cause the impact to be felt in minutes.''
Mississippi summers could reach a high of 33 - 38 deg C.
