US Shrimp Imports Down In June
The surge in shrimp import ahead of the preliminary decision on anti-dumping tariff has resulted in a big total volume of shrimp imports into the US. Therefore, although import in May and June dipped, H1 import of shrimps still rises by 16.7% compared with that of last year, at 227 300 tons.
Shrimps prices in general are falling during the past fortnight.
Meanwhile, non-tariff countries are boosting their shrimp exports to the US, with total volume now reaching 168 million pounds, rising by 32%. Countries of low anti-dumping tariffs will also enhance their exports soon.
In short, the US will still consume more shrimps and so will the shrimp import volume into the country in 2004.
