FMD found in Taipei pig farm
The Chinese Ministry of Agriculture on Wednesday (Aug 18) reported a case of foot-and-mouth disease at a pig farm in Taipei city of Taiwan, to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
It concerns a hog farm with 1,428 animals, of which eight were infected. The serotype O present on this farm also causes major problems in China, Korea and Japan.
The last case of foot-and-mouth disease in Taipei was in November 2009.
