Azerbaijan meat production up 11 percent in July
Azerbaijan meat production in July increased 11 percent against June and by 1.4 percent against January of the year but declined 4.4 percent versus the July 2008 index.
The State Statistics Committee informs that July meat production made up 24,300 against 27,300 tonnes in June and 25,400 tonnes in July 2008.
For January to July 2009, 171,600 tonnes of meat were produced against 171,200 tonnes in the same period in 2008, 0.2 percent.
The Committee said 827,700 tonnes of milk were produced in January to July 2009, against 810,900 tonnes, up 2.1 percent, in the same period in 2008. And 716,000 eggs were produced against 641,600 eggs in January to July 2008, up 11.6 percent.
As of July 1, 2009, the country's cattle stock increased 2 percent to 2.58 million heads, while pig stock reduced 6.8 percent to 12,000 heads.
In January 2009, the country's cattle stock increased 1.5 percent to 2.549 million heads, while pig stock reduced 37.6 percent to 11,700 heads.
This results in an increase of 19,500 heads of cattle sock, while growth of pig stock at 200 heads, in the second-quarter.
