Kazakhstan expects sufficient grain this year
Kazakhstan will have enough grain for its domestic needs and for export despite the unfavourable weather conditions, said Yevgeniy Aman, chief secretary of the Kazakh Agriculture Ministry.
According to local authorities, this year's gross grain production would be 15.4 million tonnes in bunker weight with average level of yield 9.9 quintals per hectare, including about 12 million tonnes of wheat, he said.
"Taking into account seven million tonnes of grain left over from the previous years, the volume of grain for distribution will be about 21 million tonnes, which is enough to meet the country's domestic needs and to export about eight million tonnes," he added.
