Minh Phu-Hau Giang starts constructing biggest seafood plant in Mekong Delta
Groundbreaking work has started on the Minh Phu-Hau Giang seafood processing factory in Song Hau industrial park in Vietnam's Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang on August 17.
The VND400 billion (US$23.38 million) plant - the biggest in Mekong Delta region - covers 43 hectares and is capable of producing 20,000 tonnes of seafood yearly.
The factory is expected to be completed and put into operation by 2012.
Meanwhile, operations at the Quang Ninh seafood export processing factory has began after two years of construction.
With a total in investment of VND120 billion from Cam Ranh Seafood Company, the factory can process around 50 tonnes of raw shrimp a day and generate jobs for 1,200 workers, mostly local residents.
The factory was built on an area of 20,000 square - metre in Hai Yen district, Mong Cai city. It is considered one of the largest seafood processing export factories in the northern region.
