Brazil approves zoning of soy planting land in Parana

 

 

The Brazilian Agriculture Ministry approved last week the zoning of land in Parana state for soy planting.

 

In the 2008-09 crop year, Paranaplanted 4 million hectares and produced 9.5 million tonnes of soy, the National Commodities Corporation (CONAB) informed Friday (Aug 14).

 

The state's soy production rose to 6.5 million tonnes in the 1990's from 8,000 tonnes in the 1960's. In the 2002/-03 crop year, Parana state produced a record high 10.7 million tonnes of soy.
