Market analysis

AA broiler

Sales of chicken products remained slow while prices weakened lately. In response, slaughterhouses cut prices of AA broiler to sustain profits while release volumes expanded. On average AA broiler prices dipped 1.8% over the week.

Prices of day-old chick strengthened to the range of RMB3.10-3.70/bird, as farmers increased purchases in anticipation of strong demand before the long October holidays.

China breed broiler

Prices of China breed broiler stayed soft in most regions despite rising in the southern provinces amid strengthened demand. Overall, native broiler prices remained flat during the period in review.

Chick prices stayed low with buying interest weak.

Market forecast

Broiler supplies are expected to tighten while demand is poised to increase with Mid-Autumn Festival approaching. Broiler prices are therefore seen firm in the coming period.

RMB=US$0.1509 (Aug 17)
