Serbia awaits record grain export
Agriculture Minister Sasa Dragin announces that Serbia is expecting a record year for its grain exports.
The official noted that this is especially true when it comes to selling abroad sunflower processed into cooking oil, processed soy seeds, and corn.
Last year, the sector managed another record-a trade surplus of US$650 million.
Serbia's agriculture has benefited from trade and bilateral agreements, that improved "circulation of knowledge and goods", Dragin stated.
The minister said that the Russian export ban on grains has brought high profits to those selling wheat.
"We have a significant amount, between 400,000 and 500,000 tonnes of wheat, that can be exported. If the price continues to grow, this will bring our country very high profits. Besides, with 1.2 million hectares of corn fields sown this year, and record prices of corn, our crops really look fantastic," said the minister.
