Ukraine's grain carry-over stocks increased by 10 percent

As of August 1, 2009, agricultural enterprises of Ukraine (except of small ones), and grain storing and processing enterprises reported 21.2 million tonnes (up 10 percent compared to August 1, 2008), including 13.2 million tonnes of wheat, 5.7 million tonnes of barley, 0.7 million tonnes of corn, 0.5 million tonnes of rye, informed the State Committee of Statistics of Ukraine on August 13.

Directly agrarian enterprises' stocks amounted to 12.9 million tonnes of grains (up 11 percent compared to the previous year indices), including 7.9 million tonnes of wheat, 3.5 million tonnes of barley, 0.4 million tonnes of corn, 0.2 million tonnes of rye. Grain storing and processing enterprises stocked 8.3 million tonnes of grains (up 9 percent compared to August, 2008).

According to the data of the State Committee of Statistics, as of August 1, 2009, sunflower seed reserves in Ukraine totalled 0.6 million tonnes.
