US Monogram Food acquires meat snack business
Memphis-based Monogram Food Solutions LLC is acquiring American Foods Group's meat snack business, according to media reports.
The sale will include a meat snack plant in Martinsville, Virginia, a Green Bay, Wisconsin plant and the rights to the Bull's, Hannah's, O'Brien's and Dakota brand names.
Monogram plans to invest US$3 million to expand production capacity, retaining all current positions at the Virginia American Foods Group production facility. The Martinsville plant is a good addition to the company's existing facilities in Minnesota and Indiana, said Karl Schledwitz, chairman and chief executive officer of Monogram.
In 2006, Monogram acquired Trail's Best Meat Snacks from Sara Lee, including a processing plant in Chandler, Minnesota. In May, Monogram acquired Muncie, Indiana-based Al Pete Meats, the manufacturer and distributor of Pete's Pride Meat Products.
