Canada to promote beef in Taiwan

The Canadian Beef Export Federation (CBEF) is bent on promoting all major beef importers and their key clients in Taiwan, following the arrival of the first Canadian beef container on the Taiwanese shores.

The promotion will begin with the next arrival of an ocean consignment, which is anticipated to land within 10 days.

CBEF is expecting Canadian beef to recapture its market share in Taiwan. Prior to mad cow disease outbreak in Canada in 2003, Canadian beef accounts only 3 percent of the total imported beef trade in Taiwan. As Canadian beef exports to Taiwan must include boneless meat derived from cattle less than 30 month of age, shipments to the market are expected to remain relatively small.
