Belarus' January-July 2011 agricultural output up 12.3%
 

 

In the first seven months of 2011, Belarus' agricultural output totalled BYR48.6 trillion (US$5.8 billion), rose by 12.3% on-year.

 

The government had forecast an increase of 4-5% for the entire year. In particular, sales of livestock and poultry for slaughter increased by 4.9%, egg production by 2.5%, and milk production by 4.2% in the first seven months, the National Statistics Committee (Belstat) said. Agricultural companies' output reportedly increased by 15.7%, with the production of plant products rising by 35% and that of animal products by 7.9%. In particular, the output of milk rose by 7%, livestock and poultry by 5.5% and eggs by 5.3%. Cattle accounted for 35.4% of the meat output, poultry for 33.1% and hogs for 31.5%.
