South Korea's CJ Corp aims to be top lysine producer with Brazil factory opening
South Korea's CJ Corporation, the country's top food manufacturer, announced Wednesday (Aug 15) the opening of its lysine factory in Sao Paulo, Brazil
The US$100 million facility spans a sprawling 106 hectares and would put CJ as the world's No. 1 lysine producer with a 30 percent market share by 2013, said a company spokesman.
The factory, with an annual production capacity of 50,000 tonnes presently, would be the company's gateway into the Central and South American region. CJ already has extensive operations in China and Indonesia.
The manufacturer hopes to eventually increase the Brazil factory's annual production to 150,000 tonnes, or 10 percent of the world's current lysine output.
CJ had made plans earlier to allot half its 2013 revenue to global expansion.
