Corn bugs damage 16 percent of Ukrainian wheat in elevators
1.5 million tonnes of wheat in Ukraine, accounting for 16 percent of the wheat stored in the country's elevators, have been damaged by corn bugs, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy reported Tuesday (Aug 15).
The wheat damaged were stored in elevators in 8 regions of the country.
Authorities are scrambling to work out a solution to the problem with no agreement thus far.
The impasse may lead to delays in exports.
However, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy said that it is trying actively to resolve the matter and would keep market participants informed.
