China's Rizhao City in Shandong province is now home to the largest chicken production line in the country.

The facility which became operational recently, is owned by Shandong Xinchang Group Co and is capable of processing 300,000 chickens per day.

Costing RMB 960 million (US$139.7 million), the first phase of the project aimed to establish feed production capacity of 500,000 tonnes yearly. 

The operation of this line will increase Xinchang Group's annual poultry processing capacity to 600,000 tonnes and benefit 200,000 poultry breeding farming households.

US poultry group Tyson is negotiating to buy 60 percent of Xinchang Group, China's fifth largest poultry processor.
