US expects bigger corn crop for 2005-06
US corn crop was estimated at 10.35 billion bushels for 2005-06, compared with the average pre-report estimate of 10.235 billion, according to the US Department of Agriculture. The US corn crop for 2004-05 was 11.807 billion bushels.
Average corn yield was estimated at 139.2 bushels/acre for 2005-06. Analysts expected between 135 and 142.5 bushels/acre. Average corn yield was 160.4 bushels/acre for 2004-05.
World corn stocks for 2005-06 were estimated at 108.07 million tonnes, compared with 114.33 million tonnes estimated in July this year.
Meanwhile, world wheat and soybean stocks for 2005-06 were estimated at 141.45 million tonnes and 48.27 million tonnes respectively.
