Russia's Siberia, Urals 2012-13 grain yields down 20-30%
The 2012-13 grain yields in Siberia and the Urals, the last of Russia's grain producing regions to start their harvest, may be reduced by 20-30% due to drought.
"Yields in Siberia and the Urals will be significantly lower than last year's," Anna Strashnaya, the head of the agricultural forecasting department at Russia's Federal Hydrometeorology and Environment Monitoring Service (Rosgidromet), said.
Siberia and the Urals will see rains and lower temperatures this week, but these conditions will help only late spring grains, she added.
