Dairy nutrition company Volac has bought England's silage additive firm Ecosyl Products.
Ecosyl, the market leader with subsidiaries in the US and Canada, also operates Rosebeck Services farm products business which is included in the deal.
Volac's sales and marketing director, David Neville, said: "Volac and Ecosyl are successful in their own right and both have enviable brand positions in the dairy and livestock sector.
"The combined strength of Volac''s sales, marketing and process capabilities with Ecosyl's market leading forage and animal health products will create a partnership that will drive development of the home and international silage additive market. Beardsmore, who sold Ecosyl to Volac, will remain to lead its international sales and head its silage additive research and development portfolio.
He said: "We believe that Volac is the right partner to continue the successful legacy of the Ecosyl brand. The acquisition provides the integrated business with a significant opportunity to be the leading global supplier of silage additives and supports Volac's position as a leading specialist in livestock productivity."
Ecosyl has a long tradition of research and development and began life as part of ICI. Volac is a privately-owned business based near Cambridge, which has been producing nutritional dairy products for more than 40 years.
