China's dairy industrial output hits RMB60 billion in 2005
Increased adoption of high-technology production methods had helped to boost China's dairy industrial output by 20 percent to 28.648 million tonnes, valued at RMB60 billion in 2005. This was announced at the Third Chinese Congress of Dairy Science and Technology held recently. Per capita dairy production was 21.7 kilogrammes last year.
China's output of comsumer dairy products totalled 13.1 million tonnes in 2005. The average comsumption per person in the urban and rural areas were at 24.8 kilogrammes and 2 kilograms respectively. Due to its sustained strong growth momentum, China's diary production industry has remained a star performer amongst all agricultural subsectors in the country.
