Egypt to stop GM food exports and imports

Egypt won't allow any genetically modified agricultural imports into the country, state news agency MENA reports Wednesday, citing the country's Agriculture Minister.

The rule will be also apply to Egyptian exports, the agency adds.

"No agricultural products...would enter except after examining samples from the shipment," said Amin Abaza, according to MENA. Agriculture imports and exports must have a certificate proving that they are not genetically modified, MENA cites Abaza as saying.
