Australia June wheat exports 1.64 million tonnes, up 27 percent on-month

 

 

Australian wheat exports rose 27 percent in June compared with May, to 1.64 million tonnes, with Indonesia, Sudan, Vietnam, Egypt, Iran and Yemen the main destinations, the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics reported Thursday (August 13). 

 

Wheat exports in June included 1.38 million tonnes in bulk and 263,700 tonnes in bags or containers. This took total wheat exports in the nine months ended June 30 to 11.30 million tonnes, which included 9.52 million tonnes, or 84 percent, in bulk and the balance of 1.78 million tonnes in bags or containers, Abare reported in its monthly export data publication. Year-earlier figures weren't stated.

 

Indonesia is the biggest importer of Australian wheat, accounting for 428,300 tonnes in June, taking total exports there in the nine months ended June to 2.03 million tonnes, it reported.

 

Among other major markets in June, Australia exported 183,500 tonnes to Sudan and 124,200 tonnes to Vietnam, while Egypt accounted for 101,500 tonnes as did Iran; Yemen was shipped 120,600 tonnes, it said.

 

Of other major markets in the nine months ended June 30, Iran was shipped 1.58 million tonnes of Australian wheat, Vietnam 716,100 tonnes and Yemen 700,500 tonnes, while other major destinations included Sudan, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, Iraq and Egypt of a total 51 nations that took Australian wheat in the period.
