China lifts UK livestock import restrictions

China has lifted its import restrictions on UK livestock and livestock products, which was put in place after an outbreak of foot and mouth in August 2007, the UK Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs announced Tuesday (August 12).

Following control of the outbreak, the UK regained its foot and mouth disease-free status from the World Organization for Animal Health Feb. 19.
