Philippines H1 agriculture production rises 3.5 percent 

 

 

Philippine farm output slowed to 3.5 percent in the first half from 5.24 percent a year earlier, the Department of Agriculture said Monday (August 13).

 

Crops accounted for 47 percent of total output led by the country's two major staples rice, which grew by 2.88 percent and corn by 5.7 percent.

 

The fishery sector, contributing 27.3 percent to total production, grew by 7.2 percent.

 

Agriculture accounts for about a fifth of the domestic economy.
