Yili's new plant in China's Urumqi starts production
The new diary plant of China's Yili Group has started production recently. Located in China's Urumqi Economic Development Zone, the plant, which cost RMB167 million to build, will be able to produce 150 tonnes of beverages, 100 tonnes of milk and 4 tonnes of frozen dairy products daily.
Zhang Jianqiu, vice president of Yili said the group is benefiting from Xinjiang's ample supplies of raw milk. Strategically located in north-western China bordering Central Asian markets, the new plant will also boost Yili's market presence in these regions.
Together with its earlier investment in Xinjiang's Shihezi city, Yili's total investment in Xinjiang has increased to RMB400 million.
