China hikes August soy import forecast
China's soy imports delivered in August are projected to reach 3.85 million tonnes, higher than the earlier estimate of 3.15 million tonnes, the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said Thursday (Aug 11).
The imports delivered in July were 4.65 million tonnes, the MOC said.
The report is based on importers' shipments from July 16 to 31. The MOC regularly releases its estimate twice a month.
The latest data from the General Administration of Customs show that the country's soy imports reached 5.35 million tonnes in July, up 8% over the same period of last year.
